Molecular and Ionic Clusters Conference - 2000,
Toulouse, France
April 16-21 2000
The conference is now open for registration!
--------------------------------------------
This conference follows a series of very successful Gordon conferences,
with the last two held at Il Ciocco, Italy (1996) and Ventura, California
(1998). The conferences have taken place biannually, alternating between
the US and Europe. This alternation underlines the international aspect of
the field and provides a regular channel for exchange between scientists in
North America and Europe. Thanks to the success of the preceding
conferences, this series has become one of the premier meetings on clusters
of all types. The year 2000 conference will not be a Gordon conference,
since the Gordon Research Conferences do not have an official site in
France. However, it will adhere to the Gordon Conference format, and be
followed by a GRC planned for 2002 back in Ventura. There will be room for
120-130 participants.
Conference topics:
------------------
Conference topics will include molecular and ionic clusters ranging from
small to large sizes, from both experimental and theoretical perspectives.
The sessions will start by a 15 minutes introduction from the Discussion
Leaders, followed by a presentation of their work by experts at the
forefront of the research in the field.
The program will include the following sessions: high resolution
spectroscopy, water clusters, hydrogen bonding, solvation studies in
clusters, large sizes and thermodynamics, intracluster dynamics,
reactivity and stereochemistry, quantum clusters, clusters of
astrophysical and atmospherical interest, exotic clusters.
The following persons have already accepted to give a talk or chair a
session: A. Bastida (Murcia), V. Bondibey (Garching), V. Buch
(Jerusalem), C. Desfrancois (Villetaneuse), M.A. Duncan (Athens,
Georgia), M. Fujii (Okasaki), B. Garrett (Richland), M. Havenith
(Bochum), K.C. Janda (Irvine), J. Jortner (Tel Aviv), P. Jungwirth
(Praga), K.S. Kim (Pohang), W. Klemperer (Boston), T. Kondow (Tokyo),
C. Leforestier (Montpellier), K. Leopold (Minnesota), C. Lineberger
(Boulder), J. Lisy (Urbana, Illinois), J.-M. L'Hermite (Toulouse),
H. Linnartz (Basel), G. Meijer (Nijmegen), R.E. Miller (Chapel Hill),
K. Mueller-Dethlefs (York), P. Parneix (Orsay), G. Scoles (Princeton),
J. Simons (Oxford), B. Soep (Orsay), J.P. Toennies (Goettingen),
R. Weinkauf (Duesseldorf), A. van der Avoird (Nijmegen), B. Whaley

Registration:
-------------
In order to follow the Gordon Conferences spirit, participation to the
conference is submitted to acceptation by one of the Co-Chairs. However,
for the purpose of simplification, you should download the application form
http://irsamc1.ups-tlse.fr/irsamc/colloques/MIC2000/inscription-mic2000.html
fill it in, then send it to the Local Committee as specified in the form.
Payment should be included, and is by credit card only. Please do not forget
to sign the form! The fixed fee (meals and accommodations) will be :
- 4.000 FF/Participant (full boarding single room, coffee breaks,
conference fee) if payed before March 1st, 2000.
- 4.800 FF/Participant (full boarding single room, coffee breaks,
conference fee) if payed after March 1st, 2000.
Financial Aid:
--------------
Students and Postdocts wishing to attend and participate in the
meeting by giving a poster should apply for financial aid as soon as
possible, and in any case NO LATER THAN JANUARY 31, to one of the
Co-Chairs. Please send a letter from your research advisor and a
CV. Student support will entitle partial coverage of the registration
fee and depending on our success in attracting external funding, a
contribution toward travel expenses.
Scientists from Eastern Europe countries may apply for financial support to
help them participate in the conference. Please send a CV, a list of
publications, and a motivation letter to one of the Co-Chairs as soon as
possible and in any case NO LATER THAN JANUARY 31.
Posters:
--------
There will be ample time to present posters, both in the formal evening
sessions and informally during early afternoons. Posters will stay up
during the whole conference. One-page abstracts should be submitted to one
of the Co-Chairs before February 16, 2000.
Conference site:
