UNIVERSITE DE LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND: PhD POSITION
A PhD position in Femtosecond spectroscopy of condensed matter is available immediately with Professor Majed Chergui at the Institut de Physique de la Matière Condensée, Université de Lausanne, Switzerland. The candidate will be involved in a project concerning the study in "real-time" of electronic excitations (e.g. Rydberg states, excitons) in condensed matter. However, she or he may also be involved in other projects of the group such as the study of photochemical reactions of molecules in solutions or of light-induced deformations in solids.
Our laser lab is equipped with a tunable nanosecond OPO laser and two femtosecond laser set-ups (one optimized for < 50fs pulses).
Applications from students with a degree in physics, chemical physics, or physical chemistry, with a motivation for fundamental physics are highly encouraged. The starting salary will be CHF 3556.-/month.The appointment is for one year, renewable every year up to 4. Interested applicants should send a resume and arrange to have two letters
