The US-Japan Workshop on the Quantum Control of Chemical Reaction Dynamics
will take place at the East-West Conference Center near Honolulu, Hawaii
from Dec. 12-15, 1999. This workshop, which is supported by the US
National Science Foundation and by the Japan Society for the Promotion of
Science, will examine the current state of knowledge about the coherent
control of electronic and nuclear motion in gases, liquids, solids, and
their interfaces. The workshop will begin with a reception on Sunday
evening, Dec. 11. The scientific sessions will be held mornings and
evenings, starting on Monday morning and ending on noon, Wednesday, Dec.
15. In addition, a poster session is planned for Tuesday at 4 pm. The list
of invited speakers includes P. Bucksbaum, L. diMauro, Y. Fujimura, R.
Gordon, M. Gruebele, M. Kawasaki, V. Kleiman, T. Kobayashi, H. Kono, S.
Leone, K. Misawa, T. Nakajima, H. Nakamura, H. Petek, W. Pötz, H. Sakai,
