Dear Scientist
We have had a few reports about difficulties in accessing our website. We
do agree with this, because we have problems accessing the website
ourselves. We sincerely apologise for this situation, especially when you
may be trying to register for the Chemical Physics meeting on Molecular
Reaction Dynamics Meeting. In view of this I am sending the whole
announcement and registration form again (below) so you can register and
send by email or surface mail. You do not have to access our web page
anymore. The deadline for registration has also been extended to 25 June
1999. I should be very grateful if you could forward this message to
colleagues who may be interested.
We look forward to seeing you and to a very interesting and enjoyable
meeting.
Thank you.
With best regards
Auriel
Secretary to Professor Ian Smith

Molecular Reaction Dynamics:
The Second Meeting of the University of Birmingham Centre for Chemical
Physics to be held in the School of Chemistry at The University of
Birmingham on
Thursday 8th July 1999
Held in conjunction with the Northern Universities' Meeting on Chemical
Physics
------------------------------------------
The University of Birmingham has established a cross-disciplinary Centre
for Chemical Physics. It formalises and extends existing links
between research groups in the Schools of Chemistry and Physics bringing
together researchers with a wide range of interests in chemical
physics including: the dynamics of neutral-neutral and ion-molecule
reactions, the physics and chemistry of the gas-solid interface, the
chemistry and physics of free and adsorbed clusters, electronic structure
and scattering calculations, laboratory astrophysical chemistry, and
the use of vacuum ultraviolet radiation, including femtosecond sources to
probe the dynamics of gas-phase and surface species.
This meeting features a number of invited speakers:
DJ Auerbach (IBM San Jose)
DJ Nesbitt (JILA, University of Colorado, Boulder)
GC Schatz (Northwestern University)
AG Suits (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory)
A programme for the meeting is now being made. We plan to start with
registration and coffee at 10:00 in the Haworth Chemistry Building.
This will be followed by oral presentations beginning at 10:30. Posters
will be presented during at lunchtime. The meeting will conclude at 17:30.
We invite contributions, either oral or poster, from all interested
practisioners of reaction dynamics. In keeping with the tradition of the
Northern Universities' Meeting, we particularly encourage the presentation
of research results by younger researchers.
The Centre for Chemical Physics gratefully acknowledges generous
sponsorship from Nicolet Instruments Ltd in support of this meeting and
its seminar programme.
TO REGISTER, PLEASE COMPLETE THE FORM BELOW AND SEND EITHER BY EMAIL OR
SURFACE MAIL .
