Dear Chemist
The University of Birmingham has established a cross-disciplinary Centre
for Chemical Physics. It formalises and extends existing links
between research groups in the Schools of Chemistry and Physics bringing
together researchers with a wide range of interests in chemical
physics including: the dynamics of neutral-neutral and ion-molecule
reactions, the physics and chemistry of the gas-solid interface, the
chemistry and physics of free and adsorbed clusters, electronic structure
and scattering calculations, laboratory astrophysical chemistry, and
the use of vacuum ultraviolet radiation, including femtosecond sources to
probe the dynamics of gas-phase and surface species.
The Birmingham Centre for Chemical Physincs in conjunction with the
Northern Universities will hold a one-day Satellite Meeting on 'Molecular
Reaction Dynamics' on Thursday, 8 July 1999. The meeting will be held in
the School of Chemisry at the University of Birmingham.
This meeting features a number of invited speakers:
DJ Auerbach (IBM San Jose)
DJ Nesbitt (JILA, University of Colorado, Boulder)
GC Schatz (Northwestern University)
AG Suits (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory)
We invite contributions, either oral or poster, from all interested
practisioners of reaction dynamics. In keeping with the tradition of the
Northern Universities' Meeting, we particularly encourage the presentation
of research results by younger researchers.
More information about the meeting and registration is available on the web at

ration.
Alternatively, you may e-mail me at the above address. The deadline for
registration is 18 June 1999.
We should be very grateful if you could forward this information to any
interested chemist we may have missed in our distributuion list. Thank
you.
With best wishes
