Research Studentship in Theoretical Atomic and Molecular Physics and Astrophysics
Jonathan Tennyson, Peter Storey and Tania Monteiro in the
Theoretical Atomic and Molecular Physics and Astrophysics (TAMPA) group
(web page http://www.tampa.phys.ucl.ac.uk)
at University College London have up to three fully funded
3-year research studentships available for studies leading to a PhD degree.
Possible projects include:
theory of atomic spectra and applications in astrophysics
Calculation of rotation-vibration spectra of small molecules
Quantum manifestations of chaos in atoms, molecules and mesoscopic systems.
Electron molecule collision calculations for fusion plasma models
Funding sources vary for these studentships, some are available,
fully funded, for any any suitably qualified European Union
national, others will only provide full funding for UK nationals.
The studentships start by October 1999, an earlier start may be
possible in some cases.
Grants will be at the standard UK EPSRC studentship rate, including
London allowance. Applicants must have or be about to receive a good
degree in Physics, Chemistry, Applied Maths or a related discipline.
