Dear Ruth
I have used Reference Manager and find it very useful. I put the
references into the database in alphabetical order and store the hard
copy in a similar order in large files. This way it is easy to find
them. You can also do it using a numbering system and store the hard
copies in a similar manner.
The reference databases all let you download articles directly from the
internet into the database. I haven't used this function yet but others
tell me it is very useful.
As you enter the references into to any of the databases you can put in
'keywords' which then lets you find all the articles pertaining to that
subject very easily later on.
Endnote I believe is very similar to Reference Manager.
Best wishes
Caroline Homer

Subject: Organising paper and references
Hi everyone
I have managed to surface from under piles of paper to send out an SOS!
I
am trying to find an easy way of organising papers which I am collating
in
the course of my research and also references that I am accumulating.
Someone said "reference manager" to me this morning and I understand
this to
be a useful piece of computer software. Has anyone got any experience
of
using it or pros and cons? I would really appreciate advice and
comments.
Warm regards
Ruth Deery
