Netskills Workshop:
Internet Trainers Workshop

The Internet Trainers workshop provides the framework, guidelines and
materials for participants to run their own Internet training courses
using and modifying Netskills training materials which are available
under licence.
This practical workshop is targeted at any staff from
higher education institutions and other organisations
who already have a training
role and who want to focus on Internet training.
Workshop Content:
The workshop will comprise presentations, demonstrations and
hands-on sessions with opportunities for questions and discussion.
Participants will each receive a workbook which contains workshop
exercises, presentation slides and other relevant materials.
Topics covered will include:
* challenges associated with Internet training
* the Netskills experiences and methods
* investigating training materials already available
* planning, structuring and implementing events
* tips for using software to produce, modify and deliver training
materials
* adapting Netskills materials and presentations
* presenting live Internet demonstrations
* evaluating events and workshops
By the end of the workshop participants will have:
* learned how to register for and download Netskills training
materials
* explored those Netskills training materials which are relevant to
their own training role
* used a planning form to prepare for the organisation and delivery of
a training session
* had the opportunity to discuss the challenges of Internet training
delivery
* learned about and used a variety of software tools which can aid the
delivery of Internet training (e.g. tools for screen capture,
offline browsing and HTML conversion)
* learned how to create a web quiz to incorporate in a training
session
* investigated the evaluation of training sessions
Workshop Requirements:
Participants need no special technical skills; however, it
is expected that participants will have some training
experience and will be familiar with using the Internet.
For the hands-on sessions they will find it helpful to have
had some experience of using Microsoft Windows.
The cost of the workshop is normally £ 105 for participants from higher
and further education. <p>
Institutions that have purchased Netskills Training Materials under the
Gold Scheme are entitled to one free place on this workshop.
Any individual from an institution which purchases a Gold Scheme
Licence
within three months of this workshop will have the workshop fee
discounted from the cost of the Training Materials Licence.<p>
Note: The workshop fee includes lunch, morning coffee and afternoon
tea.
A copy of The Internet Users' Guide to Network Resource Tools (2000
Edition), which is an excellent Internet reference book (worth £12), is
provided free to workshop attendees.
