1. CAS Revised Offer
--------------------
Following negotiations between CHEST, JISC, the John 
Rylands Library and CAS, CHEST is pleased to anounce the 
following revisions to the CAS offer:


1.CAS will provide a pro-rata fee, based on the number of 
months left in the agreement year, for CHEST member 
schools which subscribe to SciFinder Scholar until 
April 30th,2000.

2. A free 30-day trial period will also be available until 
April 30th, 2000, for schools that have not previously 
evaluated SciFinder Scholar.

3. If a SciFinder Scholar subscribing Institution 
discontinues a subscription to annual print CA or CA on CD 
and later wishes to go back and order the print or CD, CAS 
will provide a discounted rate of 50% for that back-issue 
order.

4. Schools subscribing to SciFinder Scholar under 
CHEST will receive the academic discount on eligible CAS 
databases on STN, even if they are not print CA 
subscribers.

The Web pages for the CHEST/CAS SciFinder(R) Scholar one 
year trial Agreement are available from:

The charges are available on request from CHEST (Email 
[log in to unmask] and please include your fax 
number). Please note that CAS has requested that the 
pricing is not published on the World Wide Web and it is 
important that the pricing is not divulged to anyone 
outside of CHEST affiliated institutions in the UK and the 
Republic of Ireland. 


2. Expiration of Agreements/Offers

The Agreement for NetFirst and the Offer for Encyclopedia Britannica both 
expire on 31st December. No further access to NetFirst via NISS will be 
available.
