Dear Colleagues,
I am asking for your help to improve the coverage of non-clinical
deaf-related topics in the British Education Index. Topics such as
audiology, deaf education, human communication, and speech therapy
and pathology are inadequately covered and the result for students
is a frustrating trawl through several databases to produce a few
references. I have discussed this with Phil Sheffield, BEI Manager
at Leeds, and he has responded very positively to the suggestion
that coverage could be improved.
Phil has agreed to consider a core list of UK journals for
possible inclusion in BEI - and I'm happy to collect the information.
The first step is to create a list of relevant holdings in Higher
Education institutions where these subjects are taught. If you would
like to contribute to this project I would be grateful if you would
send me a list of your own institution's holdings in this subject
area, so that I can compile a composite list and forward it to Phil
for consideration..
Phil is also keen that grey literature in this field is referenced in
the BEI and would welcome suggestions for contacts within
organisations which produce reports, conference papers and such-like.
