Well, as long as most of the portfolio comprises "real" evidence taken from you
carrying out your job, then if these two areas are things for which you can't
actually provide "evidence" from your job, then I would have thought that a more
"artificial" type of "evidence" would be acceptable as a way of demonstrating
your development in these areas? (please, anyone, correct me if I'm wrong)
What about something like writing a piece of work discussing how your attitudes
to staff supervision have developed, refering to your reading on the subject, and
perhaps discussing how you have been supervised and what you might take from
your experience if you were to supervise other staff? A similar written piece
for "professional issues" might be appropriate? Also, for professional issues
how about saving/printing emails that you've sent to this list commenting on
various issues? That's evidence of your awareness! A printout of an email sent
to a colleague/manager mentioning an issue which might have implications for
your service would be a good bit of evidence too? e.g. I recently attended a
meeting on the new Data Protection Act, which it seems to me will have an impact
on the Library. I will be emailing the Deputy Librarian outlining my concerns,
and a copy of that email would, I'd have thought, be a great piece of evidence
of my awareness :-)
