Subject: Bernabo' Brea
I am very sad to inform the Aegean community that Luigi Bernabo'
Brea, the great scholar excavator of key sites such as Poliochni in
Lemnos and Lipari in the Aeolian Islands died at the age of 89 in
Lipari, where he was still working on a volume of the series
Meligunis-Lipara, devoted to the results of the archaeological
exploration of the Aeolian Islands. It is a great loss for the
archaeological community in general and in particular for those who
had the privilege to know him in person and to consult and use his
monumental work, that will remain as an example for all of us.
Lucia Vagnetti
