>5. Walter Benjamin
>"Le sans-image est le refuge de toute image."
>(The without-image is the refuge of all images.)
>- This beautiful comment, where can I find in benjaminiana?
This is from:
Walter Benjamin, "Short Shadows (I)" in Selected Writings Volume 2
1927-1934, Harvard University Press, 1999, 269.
here is a fuller quote:
The unprecedented yearning that had overcome me at the heart of what I had
longed for was not the yearning that flies to the image from afar. It was
the blissful yearning that has already crossed the threshold of image and
possession, and knows only the power of the name-the power from which the
loved one lives, is transformed, ages, rejuvenates itself, and, imageless,
is the refuge of all images.
