Yes, sorry about that... I missed it while browsing the answers...
It also seemed strange to me that all compilers support
>=24 digits, even on Intel, since I was remembering a posting
like this one.
And this my question: I don't know anything about Fortran
compilers on Intel-PC machines (NT or Linux): among them,
are there which support a >=24 digits kind?
Anyway it seems that all compilers on Unix Workstations
and supercomputers support it...
