DATE: Wednesday 28 July
TIME: 2pm
VENUE: room 514, Maths and Oceanography
SPEAKER: Dr Abdel Babiker, MRC HIV Clinical Trials Centre,
University College London Medical School
TITLE: The analysis of multivariate failure time data with application to
clinical trials in HIV infection
ABSTRACT: Multiple time-to-event outcomes are measured in many clinical trials.
However the analysis usually focuses on a single (possibly
composite) endpoint so that standard methods of univariate survival
data are used. The limitations of this approach will be highlighted
and methods for the analysis of multivariate failure time data
reviewed. These fall into three broad classes - marginal, conditional
and frailty models. More recent developments in some of these
models will be discussed and illustrated with data from clinical trials
in HIV infection.
