(CPACT)
PhD Studentships
Two PhD Studentships are available in the Foresight Centre for Process

CPACT has a number of research projects involving collaborations between
end-user chemical companies - BP Chemicals, BNF, ICI, Astra

Rhone Poulenc and Zeneca alongside analytical instrument vendors and
advanced process control and optimisation companies.
One Studentship will be a CASE Award in collaboration with Johnson Mathey.
The second will be involved in a new European project with BICC CEATCavi
(Italy), DSM (Holland), BASF (Germany), Unilever (Holland and Italy) and
MDC Technology (UK), a world leading process optimisation company. The
PhD Studentships are available for research in the area of Multivariate
Statistical Process Control, an area where the Centre is recognised as
being the leading European group.
Candidates interested in the PhD positions should have degree
qualifications and skills in any of the following disciplines: Engineering,
Physics, Mathematics or Statistics. They should be able to demonstrate good
communication skills and be willing to work for periods at company sites
across the UK and Europe. The successful candidates will join an
internationally acknowledged multi-disciplinary research team comprising 6
Postdoctoral Research staff and 12 PhD students working alongside Dr Elaine

The PhD Studentships will have University Fees paid and a maintenance
stipend of up to £10,000 per year, reflecting the industrial collaborative
