LECTURER OR TEACHING FELLOW IN STATISTICS

Applications are invited for the permanent post of Lecturer in Statistics (Ref no. L/516) in the 
Department of Mathematics.  This could be filled for one year by a temporary Teaching 
Fellow (Ref no. O/517) and applications for this are also invited.

The person appointed to the Lectureship will be expected to contribute to the teaching of 
statistics at graduate and undergraduate levels and to carry out original research in statistics.  
Applications are particularly welcome from candidates with an interest in computational 
statistics as applied to either the social sciences, including actuarial science, or to the 
environment.  The Teaching Fellow would be expected to contribute to lectures and classes at 
first and second year level; the post might suit a candidate in the final stages of completing a 
Ph.D.

Candidates must have a good training in statistics and be computationally aware.  They should 
have proven research ability and excellent communication skills.   Appointment to the 
Lectureship will be on the Lecturer A scale, £16,655 - £21,815 per annum (under review) or 
the Lecturer B scale £22,726 - £29,048 per annum (under review).  Appointment to the 
Temporary Teaching Fellow will be on the scale £15,735 - £20,107 per annum (under review).
