3-Year Ph.D. STUDENTSHIP IN STATISTICS
(Commencing 6 October 1999)
Applicants should possess a first degree that includes sound training
in statistics. The research will involve developing computer programmes
for data analysis and therefore programming experience will be an
advantage.
The studentship will be of value £6,500 p.a., paid quartely in advance.

THE PROJECT will examine the correlation of three independent but
contemperaneous sets of data relating to rainfall in an urban catchment
area and will complement other research under a NERC-funded project.
The successful applicant will be expected to collaborate with the other
research staff working on the project at Essex and with researchers in
the collaborating institutions ( Salford University and the Rutherford
Appleton Laboratory). The research is supported, inter alia, by
North-West Water and the Environment Agency. This studentship is
partially funded through a contract from the Meteorological Office.
