Aberdeen has avoided giving loans from Access Funds (some
dubiety about our legal ability to do so, in any case,
in terms of the relevant Finance Act, the University's not
being a registered 'broker').
We do give short-term 'advances' - typically against next
term's grant/loan, for the duration, roughly, of the
Christmas or Easter (rarely Summer) vacations or to a
student who's grant or loan has been held up. Usually £50
or £100 max.
