Dear Robin Marks,
A GP here was asked by one of his patients to comment on one of these
tests, which was a urinary dpd assay from the "Pathology Management
Company", in Wimpole Street, and was expressed as a ratio of nmol Dpd /
mmol creatinine.
The result was outside their quoted reference range and, perhaps
alarmingly, commented on bone loss greater than in health, and a risk of
osteoporosis.
(I was intrigued that SAAS post-menopausal ranges would have classified her
result as normal, although such a comparison is hardly valid!)
The report also had a cautiously worded comment implying that any further
discussion of this (private) assay could be with her (NHS) GP.
There was no other supporting information offered.
I don't know whether the Trading Standards people are aware of this stuff.
Best wishes, Les.
