Dear Kathryn
I work with Vikki and thought I would respond to your mail in her absence.
As it happens, we have been using an assay for pro-calcitonin here in
Cambridge for some months. It is manufactured by BRAHMS and distributed
by Cambridge Life Sciences, based in Ely. At the moment the method is run
on a rather cumbersome luminometer but the company hope to introduce a
more robust method in the New Year. Our experience with this
procalcitonin as a marker of infection has been most encouraging and we
shall be happy to share it with you.
