28 yr old man with currently unexplained epigastric pain radiating to back,
seen by surgeons x2 over 2yrs, amylase about 180 IU/l (roche Integra -uln
200 IU/l). Negative CT scan, ultrasnd.
Clinically consistent with acute pancreatitis, but amylase remains
unelevated.
I know lipase has been suggested as an additional test for yrs, but I
thought its advantage was in its organ specificity, rather than ability to
detct pancreatitis when amylase is negative. Trypsinogen activation product
has also been suggested, but does not appear to be popular.
Any suggestions? Lipase and TAP don't appear to be on AssayFinder
Thanks
Andrew
