Excuse my ignorance, but what happened to the discussion about
what exactly constitutes 75 grams of glucose (glucose as you buy
it is hydrated, so after correcting for the water of hydration one has
to administer more than 75 grams of glucose by weight in a
standard GTT) ? It's a pretty foul drink on an empty stomach.
Anyway the net result, is that in many cases, you get the whole lot
delivered back up to you, pronto. Hence the use of Hycal etc.
