I'm not sure whether or not I should answer this as I am not considered by
at least one organisation to be a scientist working in health care. However;
I have some comments which I hope are useful.
There is professional indemnity insurance available from Commercial Union.
If you are a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry they would be worth
contacting; they had deals going with CU for their members.
As Hon Sec of the Forensic Science Society, I did some investigating about
indemnity cover for scientists in private practice a year or so ago for our
members and got some positive help from the Medical Insurance Agency, who do
have a number of schemes available which provide indemnity cover for
scientists in consultancy practice. You could get their most local branch
through EYP on the WWW.
