Vitreous humour analysis is used as the laboratory evidence by the
forensic pathologist in medicolegal cases as to the cause of death.
(Pat Toseland can elaborate this application)
Vitrous humour LDH is used as the laboratory evidence in the
differential diagnosis of Toxocariasis (common)/Retinoblastoma(rare)
induced vitrous (ocular posterior chamber) pathology (most common) & in
the aqueous humour ( the anterior chamber) (rare) is involved in a child
Rarely, aqueous humour biochemistry (Amino acid, reducing sugar) used in
premature complicated metabolic cataract (neonatal & childhood) to
detect the etiology (my experience in india)
All these assays have to be done simulataneously (Eye fluid & Blood)
Hope this is useful
Regards
Vivek
