9 year old boy admitted to our ITU on Boxing Day with apparent diabetic
ketoacidosis (pH 6.9!!). No previous history. Amongst other abnormalities he
had an amylase 15x the upper limit of our reference range. It is now
falling on haemofiltration. ?Salivary amylase secondary to the diabetic
ketoacidosis or pancreatititis as the precipitant for diabetes. Can anyone
out there separate amylase isoenzymes on our remaining plasma samples? There
is nothing in Assay Finder.
Happy Hogmanay anyway
