We have a woman aged 48 years who presented a few months ago
with methaemoglobinaemia. She has been well all along and her
metHb has now almost returned to normal (2.2%). There is no
apparent haemoglobinopathy and we are at a loss to explain the
cause. She has normal Haemoglobin with a mild macrocytosis but
no haemolysis. She also has positive antimitochondrial antibodies
(? significance).
Does any one know who can assay methaemoglobin reductase?
Many thanks in advance
Julian Barth
