PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS IN ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCES
The 15th Conference on Probability and Statistics in the Atmospheric
Sciences, sponsored by the American Meteorological Society (AMS),
will be held during 7-11 May 2000, in Asheville, North Carolina, US.
This meeting will be held in conjunction with the 12th AMS Conference
on Applied Climatology, and will include joint sessions with that
conference.
Papers are solicited on all aspects of Probability and Statistics as
they relate to the Atmospheric Sciences. The deadline for receipt of
abstracts is 19 November 1999, at
http://www.ametsoc.org/AMS/meet/index.html
The preliminary program will be published on the AMS Web site in
January of 2000.
A half-day short course on Climate-Change Detection, also sponsored
by the American Meteorological Society, will be held immediately
preceding the meetings, on Sunday, 7 May 2000. This short course will
be offered by Francis Zwiers, of the Canadian Centre for Climate
Modelling and Analysis, following his work on the "detection" chapter
of the upcoming report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
(IPCC).
