I am working, with Triumph Computer Services, on the design of a website for
Radstats. It is hoped to include in the website a facility to examine
articles published in the journal and chapters published in Radstats books
classified according to the subject matter.
A user of the website could click on a button labelled 'Health' for example,
and would get a list giving summary detailsof articles or chapters published
in the Journal or in Radstats books that related to health. In the case of
journal articles at least, it is envisaged that a further click would give
the full text of the article.
How should the subject area buttons be labelled? Too many subject area
buttons and the facility might become unweildy. But too few and it would
be difficult to label many specialist articles.
The list below is a first draft of sixteen subject area labels. This has
been drawn up on the basis of examination of recent issues of the Journal
and the chapters of the Statistics and Society book. The list assumes that
many articles would fall into more than one of these subject areas and
would accordingly be listed two or more times under different subject areas.
Any reactions to this list? Is it too long? Too short? Do the labels
make sense? Are they politically correct?

Comments on the list would be welcome. If you send comments to me I will
later report back on the list.
