BUILDING THE NEW LIBRARY NETWORK
A SLAMIT seminar
[LA Multimedia Information and Technology Group (Scotland)]
The Government is committing millions of pounds to develop and enhance
the networking infrastructure for our public library services with a
view to providing access to a wide range of cultural and educational
materials for all citizens. You are invited to attend an afternoon
seminar to hear the latest developments from our three speakers.
Susi Woodhouse is Development Manager at EARL, the Consortium for
Public Library Networking. She will explain how EARL is meeting the
Government's challenge of 'transforming libraries and what they do'
through collaboration, developing networked services prototypes and
supporting library authority policy makers. http://www.earl.org.uk
Sally Kerr, Community Information Officer, at Edinburgh City Libraries
will discuss the development and use of CAPinfo, the city's innovative
systems for distributing networked community information to the local
population. Sally is also the Co-ordinator for Scottish EARL
Community Information Task Group.
Elainte Fulton, Assistant Director for the Scottish Library &
Information Council, will discuss developments at Scottish EARL
including the various gateways that have been established and progress
in public library networking in Scotland.
