We are now well on the way with organising this year's
Conference. We will be sending out a mailing to each EIUG
site (and to potential members) in the near future about the
EIUG and its membership and there will also be a little more
information about the conference. Since this will only be
sent to the Innopac co-ordinator we felt it useful to repeat
the conference information here:
CONFERENCE ARRANGEMENTS
The annual conference and AGM will be held at Trinity College
Cambridge on Monday and Tuesday 13th-14th September 1999.
Accommodation for the Monday night will be available in a
student hostel in the college, or delegates may prefer to
stay in local hotels. Full details will be circulated as
soon as possible, but as numbers for this year's conference
are restricted to 75, it would be helpful if you could
please contact Alison Sproston as soon as possible if you
would like to come, stating whether or not you would like
accommodation in college. Costs are yet to be finalised
but are likely to be £70 (£75 with en suite facilities -
these rooms are limited and will be allocated on a first
come, first served basis) to include bed & breakfast,
3-course Conference dinner, afternoon tea, morning coffee
and buffet lunch. Costs without accommodation are likely to
be about £20 less.

CONFERENCE PROGRAMME
I will be putting together the programme and
have already had a few suggestions from members. We are
inviting staff from Innovative to attend and would
particuarly appreciate demonstrations of the Millennium
products.
However, I would also like to ask for EIUG members to
participate and lead some sessions.
Firstly, an idea was presented that it would be useful to
have one session relating to aspects of training on
Innopac. Therefore we would like to ask for volunteers to
do a short presentation on any of the following three
topics:- managing training for a new site, training for a
new Release, training for new staff. The intention is that
each speaker would do 15-20 minutes and then we could have
a question and answer session.
Secondly, we also hope to run discussion groups on the
following topics: GUICAT, Serials, Circulation,
Acquisitions and would welcome volunteers to lead these
informal sessions.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to
participate in either of these.
Lastly, although we are not intending to do anything about
training for readers for the opac we did think it might be
interesting to have examples of any written guides which
are produced by members which could perhaps be displayed.
If you have anything of this type which you would be happy
for others to view please send me a copy.
Thanks,
Diane Leeson
