I am stunned at the level of pomposity embedded in the above comments.

And note, the use of the most sacred name of Chomsky here, referring to
the "issues" involved in "language". Chomsky is a linguist by trade, one
assumes his linguistic, rather than philisophical, acumen is being
mentioned. I might also point out that language doesn't kill, unless you
believe in Lynch's interpretation of the "weirding way" in "Dune." Living
things and bad circumstances can kill. Language cannot. The Why's and
Wherefores of the situation may involve language on some level, but also
reflect ethnicity and power politics... both of which function perfectly
well in Chimpanzee tribes without any language being involved at all.
Maybe we're both being pompous, in which case I'm left with no defense but
the old school yard cry of "he started it!"
