I wonder what is the point of the discussion, if we are agreed that there is
an arbitrariness to how rhythm is read and performed --why the need to
consider it? Is it because we want to be censurious and protect our turf?
To demarcate the boundaries of poetry and prose? This always amuses me,
because I thought that many members were against boundaries. What of
cultural rhythms? Listen to Beijing Opera and European Opera.
