I would like to see the replies posted on the mailbase.
I would like to point out that there is a problem with
posting on this mailbase which does not, in my experience,
occur on other email groups. Every time I post anything
I get a number of automatic messages back saying
'I will be out of my office till xx.xx.xxxx. I will
reply when I get back'. These messages are almost invariably
from lurkers (people who never contribute anything to the
mailbase), often in government departments.
I would ask them to turn off these automatic replies because
1) the message 'I will reply when I get back' is untrue.
2) It makes me feel uncomfortable to be 'spied on' by
government officials (this may be my paranoia).
3) I already get enough 'junk' messages via email.
4) It discourages me, and presumably others, from making
contributions to the mailbase.
