On a related topic I was involved with a drink driving case where the
defense was that ranitidine inhibited gastric ADH, thereby causing
increased alcohol levels. Of course alcohol is predominantly
metabolised by hepatic ADH as well as by the mixed enzyme oxidative
system in the liver. So it may be there may be a deficiency in gastric
ADH (eg japanese, females, atrophic gastritis), but as far as I can tell
from the literature, in all cases, alcohol levels are similar from
similar doses.
