Our policy on measurement of sodium valproate is that it is not particularly
useful apart from checking for compliance, because plasma levels do not
correlate with clinical response.
Has this position changed with newer formulations (e.g. Epilim Chrono)?
Any views on other indications for measurement?
Does everyone quote an "effective therapeutic range" of 40-100 mg/L on
reports (as per manufacturer)?
Thanks in advance for any replies
