Robert S. Gottfried provides a good overview of the
Black Death in his 1983 _The Black Death: Natural and
Human Disaster in Medieval Europe_, NY: Free Press as
does Philip Ziegler in his 1971 _The Black Death_, NY:
Harper & Row.. Colin Platt's _King Death: The Black
Death and Its Aftermath in Late Medieval England_,
Toronto: U of T Press, 1996 deals with changes in art
as well as other areas of society. Pieter
Spierenburg's 1991 _The Broken Spell: A Cultural and
Anthropological History of Pre-Industrial Europe_, New
Brunswich: Rutgers University Press, has a section on
the Black Death and its effects as well. Roger S.
Wieck, 1988, _The Book of Hours in Medieval Art and
Life_, London: Sotheby's Publications, also has a
short section on changes in art and forms of worship
after the plague.
Hope you find these useful.
