Thanks to Terry Hanstock for bringing one of our press releases to the
list's notice.
May I add that DCMS press release 299/98 of 1 December has a little more
information which seems to be missing from Terry's, ie that the document
referred to is "New Links for the Lottery", see DCMS' web site
www.culture.gov.uk.
All of the paper is interesting, I hope, but of special interest to
library folk will be section 5 pgs 10-13 "Community Access to Lifelong
Learning". Here libraries, as in Alan Howarth's words, "must take their
place".
Your comments, and those of any others you think ought to make comment,
have been invited on the paper and how the NOF money should and could be
used in the separate initiatives. Once this consultation exercise has
been concluded (comments in by 15 January 1999) then we will know just
how the £400 million will be spread across the initiatives.
