John,
Both Geoff Keye and ourselves looked at the initial machine (independantly,
naturally) and found it to be too "observer dependant", requiring an
anally-retentive suffering from O-C D, to use it safely. I gave up on the
idea after the first 25 resluts were so far out, when compared to the lab.
I haven't been offered sight of any "new" machine.

Subject: near patient testing
We had the rep around today flogging the AcetaSite near patient testing kit
for Paracetamol. This machine has only been around for 3 months. I remember
Conor Eggleston had a paper on the previous machine which did not give
favourable results. It costs £800 up front and £5 a test.
Is anyone else using it and does it make financial sense and effect cycle
time for the patient or effect quality of care ?
