Tim Owen of LIC asked me to bring this to the attention of any e-mail
lists I belong to, (please pass on!):
You may recall that the Library and Information Commission's New
Library: The People's Network proposed in 1997 a strategy for a radical
transformation in the character and importance of our public libraries.
Their follow up report Building the New Library Network sets out the
Commission's plan on the practical approach to making this happen. It
addresses the issues of Content creation, ICT training for Librarians
and the approach to the network infrastructure.
The text will be available after lunchtime today on the LIC Web site at:
http://www.lic.gov.uk/publications/building.html
The full printed report, with appendices, will be distributed over the
coming weeks.
