Dear Colleagues,
I am a General Practitioner and the club medical officer for an English
professional football (soccer) club. The players are all fit young male
full-time footballers.
Am I justified in offering vaccination against influenza to the players,
on the grounds that it can be costly to the club if one or more players
are unable to play due to influenza? None of them are in a high risk
group for the illness. (I would offer the immunisation privately rather
than on the NHS).
I would be grateful any opinions.
Dr Philip M. Peverley
