More knowledgeable, perhaps, but surely not more worthy.
As far as I know (not very far, indeed) the woodcuts have really nothing to
do with the Peshitta *as such*, though the exotic iconography may have been
linked to the exotic nature of the text, here being printed for the first time
(a
copy on vellum was presented to the Emperor/patron).
In style the one I've seen is quite good and consistent with post-Durer, N.
renaissance work.
This query would be better directed to the Medart list, one might think; but
it seems to have gone back to sleep.
