Also to continue the thread about the importance of visual
representations of the Bible in art.... In the account of one of his
visions, Rupert of Deutz describes a golden disk which descends on him
as being like a talent. I assume from that that Rupert was familiar
with illustrations of the parable of the talents in which the talents
were represented as gold pieces and so, thinking the image would be
familiar to his readers as well, used it as an image for what he saw.
