We have opened a tenure-track academic position for an Economic
Geologist in the School of Earth Sciences at James Cook University.
Someone with a background working on deformed rocks containing
mineralization would be appropriate and there is scope for petrologists,
structural geologists or
geophysicists to apply for the position, if they can demonstrate interests

LECTURER* IN ECONOMIC GEOLOGY

Professor in North America)
The School of Earth Sciences is one of Australia's premier centres for
research and training in economic geology, with parallel
strengths in structural/metamorphic , tectonic, and marine, environmental
and sedimentary geology. The School is located in
NE Australia adjacent to major mineral deposits of the Mt Isa - Cloncurry
region, and also has research activities in Asia and
South America.
The School is seeking a lecturer in economic geology to complement the two
specialists already on staff. Applications with
expertise in any field of economic gelogy are welcome though special
expertise in granite-related ore systems, Ag-Pb-Zn
deposits, geophysical exploration for orebodies or structural control of
mineralisation would be an advantage.
The applicant will be expected to contribute to a range of undergraduate
teaching, supervise research students and generate
external grant income.
Salary : Lecturer B ------ Attractive options for salary packaging are
available.
Requirements : PhD with appropriate international publication record, an
ability to work as a team member of an active
department, and the demonstrated record or potential to secure external
grants.
