DEAN'S LECTURE University of Sydney
Putting the Evidence into Practice: how well are we doing?
Monday, 12th October 1998, 6.30pm to 8.00pm
Stephen Roberts Theatre, University of Sydney
One of the major health issues of today is the transfer of knowledge
from research into health policy and practice-the synthesis of research
findings to determine which interventions work and which do not, and the
use of this knowledge in clinical, policy, managerial and consumer
decisions.
In this session, four speakers at the forefront of Australian and
international efforts in the field will discuss their current
understanding of the implementation of effective healthcare, with
practical examples including cancer screening and perinatal care.
Speakers:
Prof. Chris Silagy, Australasian Cochrane Centre
Prof. David Henderson-Smart, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital
Prof. Les Irwig, Dept. of Public Health and Community Medicine
Prof. George Rubin, Effective Healthcare Australia
