A number of GP Clinical Systems currently supply epidemiological data to the
Birmingham Research Unit of the Royal College of GPs. The involved
practices electronically send weekly returns, indicating prevalence and
incidence of conditions seen in the practice the previous week. These data
indicate a Read Code, and then numbers of first, new and ongoing occurrences
of the morbidity, broken down into age bands and sex.
They do have a web site now.
URL is http://www.rcgp-bru.demon.co.uk/index.htm
Another relevant project is CHDGP Collection of Health data from GP, which
uses MIQUEST software to extract data from GP systems, and allow reporting
of local prevalence and incidence.
Also on the web.

Subject: prevalence data
is anybody aware of software into which GPs/others can feed basic
epidem/demographic data to obtain estimates of prevalences for differing
conditions?
is there any research on how good clinicians are at estimating these
things based on experience?
