Thank you, Paul Chandler.
I had just about resigned myself to settling for Thomas
Long's "orphan-sock-hell-realm" theory by default (thanks
anyway, Thomas).
While I take your point about liturgical/text books being used
to death, I wonder if this is necessarily so with Vulgates.
Question from a state of near-perfect ignorance: Is/was the
Vulgate, as such, used as a service book?
Thanks again for your insightful response.
Now I can die in peace and go to the Valhalla of Book Wizards
in the sky and hold my own 'mongst the best of them.
Best from here,
Christopher

P.s. Netscape.net is a pretty good e-mail provider,
especially good at filtering out junk mail. But the
b*st*rds have it in their mind (sic) that they can use
_my_ e-mail as a vehicle to send their own junk
mail. (Duh)
I'm trying to get this fixed and, if not will find another
provider. Meanwhile,
My apologies for the following commercial
anouncement:
