I did some fieldwork here in Australia measuring striations to investigate
palaeostress a few years ago. Part of the project (which I wasn't really
that involved in) was taking these measurements and plugging them into
Angelier's Stress Tensor program. In essence all you do is plug in the
orientations of the striations and the planes they are on and it separates
them out and gives you a few possible variations of stress conditions. At
the time it was a bulky awful program, but I understand it may have changed
and be a little more user-friendly now. It may be worthwhile checking it
out at least if you can get your hands on it. I don't know where you can
find it sorry. Check the net.
