Thanks for the thoughts. In UK ( NHS ) as per the GMS contract all elderly
patients are required to be given a "health check" annually. It should
therefore be possible to check the BP of every elderly patient atleast once
a year whether that person is hypertensive or not. Elderly patients are more
likely to miss out on follow-up care for hypertension due to various
constraints. And yet, they are the most at risk to suffer complications of
hypertension if not under control. Every stroke prevented would add up to
enormous savings on the resources.
