Hi there
I'm an Irish PT currently working in California but my area of interest
before coming to the states was respiratory therapy. As you probably
know, in the States, respiratory therapy per say is done by respiratory
therapists and energy conservation matters are usually dealt with by the
OT's, at least thats been my experience over the last 1 1/2 years in the
Home Health field over here.
There are cardiopulmonary PT's but I don't think they do as much ITU
work as we do in Europe ( suctioning,on-call etc), they focus more on
pulmonary rehab- please correct me if I'm wrong!
Getting back to the point...
one excellent use of this list through the Internet however is being
able to present difficult cases, present new research etc and get
feedback from all the various PT specialists in that field worldwide .
I don't know if you've been following the recent list mails on the
"on-call" issue but there was some excellent information and a current
study presented from the UK with lots of debate from different PT's
worldwide all giving their opinions esp. in the areas of Doctor
education and on-call criteria. I followed this topic with great
interest as it was always the problem area in the hospital where I
worked !!
I'm sure all the mails can be read in the archives.I haven't come across
any other Cardiopulmonary sites but you may find the Journal of
Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation in the journal lists.
I'm presuming you have info on all the other PT related sites and
medlines available through the Internet, if you don't let me know and
I'll forward them on
OK, there's my little contribution !
Have a good weekend
Mags
